About Us
We own Berry’s Naturally Farm in Reading, Michigan. We practice sustainable farming - a process that emphasizes healthy, earth friendly practices in raising beef, chicken, and lamb on our 40 acre farm. We work the land believing we need to do our part to keep the land as God intended, and continue to improve and enhance it for the future generations, while benefiting both animals and mankind.
Bill has been a farmer his entire life. We married in 1981 and together we started our small country farm. Dissatisfied with traditional farming methods and the use of abusive chemicals that were destroying the land, we spent years making the land fruitful with grasses and forages. We investigated and obtained specific breeds of animals which we knew would grow, thrive, and finish well on those types of grasses while producing a tasty, pleasing meat.
We use a rotational grazing approach, moving the livestock to fresh pasture everyday. Electrically charged tape and wire fencing keep the animals moving and the predators out. We use draft horses and mules to work the pastures, and wood lots as much as possible, using a tractor when conditions deem necessary.

We are always learning, striving to better our products, ourselves, and our land. We try to add something new every year while discarding something that didn’t work so well. We learn from, and listen to our customers. We appreciate our customers, and strive to provide the meats you desire.
While we both have day jobs, Bill with Towlift, and Angie at Hillsdale College, we find gratification and satisfaction in running the farm as our own business together. We love our animals and are passionate in tending to them, but we know what their purpose is. Even our daughters, who grew up in 4-H, (both grown with families of their own) understood what the animals disposition would be. We are definitely caretakers of the animals.
We feel blessed to be in this business together. It is rewarding to be working unified, side by side, outside in Mother Nature’s splendor, watching and listening to the sounds, sights, and smells she instills. We relish in this marvel of nature and hope you too will enjoy, appreciate, and respect what nature has to offer through Berry’s Naturally.
